Tell us about yourself: who are you and where do you come from?

I am Desiree Wöhrer and I am a Viola da Gamba and Recorder player from Vienna – Austria.

Tell us about a passion you have besides music and why it makes you feel good.

Going out into the nature and enjoying the green (or in the autumn the colourful) leaves of the trees, the colourful flowers and the birdsong. I also greatly enjoy hiking and cycling. The nature is important for me because I can gain a lot of strength, but also motivation and inspiration. It also helps my body and my mind to relax after an intese practive-session or when I have too much music in my head.

In your opinion, what makes the Komendunesi Festival special?

The festival is special because it is all about the people and the connections between people. Getting to know each other and enjoying time together – through music, eating, cooking or something else.

Three things you are looking forward to most about the 2021 edition of the Komendunesi Festival?

I am looking forward to making music together again, spending time with people and the great hospitality of the people of Comenduno.

What is music to you?

Music is a lot of emotion and music is a language everyone can understand. It is something that can move me deeply in one moment and make me laugh in the next.

A quick music menu of your own:

I really cannot answer this question. Sometimes I listen to a specific piece of music while being in a specific state of emotion and the next time being in that same state of emotion I listen to something completely different. What I can tell is, that it is mostly Early Music from the Renaissance or Baroque era 😉 but sometimes I enjoy silence over music.
